Mercado do Bolhão is a research project produced under the Master's Degree in Image Design.

We apply a photographic experiment to a concrete spatial context: the Bolhão Market in Porto. We work with the marketplace traders from the perspective of Image Design in a way that tests the concept of Authorship. This experiment seeks to question the single author as an image creator. This interaction gives rise to a collection of 60 Polaroid photographs - and respective documentation of the process - which are entirely produced/created by the traders. The whole investigation brings into question the limits and possibilities for an Image of Collective Authorship, contributing to a reflection on the dimensions of Image and its related operative contexts.
